1.) What is a false positive?
A false positive is an alert sent out when an IDS sensor misinterprets one or more legitimate, benign packets as an attack.

2.) What is a false negative?
A false negative occurs when an IDS sensor misinterprets one or more malicious packets as being harmless.

3.) What is a buffer-overflow exploit?
Application programs have a fixed-size buffer that holds data. When a network interface card (NIC) is set up to read all network traffic, even those that are not addressed to it, it is said to be in “promiscuous” mode.

6.) What is “normalization?”
Normalization is the process of removing exploitable ambiguities in network traffic before the traffic is evaluated for malicious code, thus removing evasion opportunities.

7.) What is SQL Injection?
SQL Injection is a method used to attack, alter or retrieve data in a database through a Web-based application

1. Setting > Network Adapter > Add > Network adapter > Next > choose NAT > Finish.

2. Bootup Freebsd then put the following line to the /etc/rc.conf file:

We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re aproaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:
‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.

I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”
My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square infront of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in throught the door and kindly asks
‘Do you have a suspended coffee ?’

It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm bevarage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwitch or a whole meal.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support ? If you own a business why don’t you offer it to your clients… I am sure many of them will like it.

Fix eth0 when cloning CentOs on VmWare

1. Write down your real mac address at VmWare network setting.

2. Remove the kernel’s networking interface rules.

# rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistant-net.rules

3. Restart CentOs vmware.

# init 6

4. Update networking configuration files.

# vi /etc/sysconfig/networking/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

*update real mac address that you write down on first step and disable or remove uuid line.

5. Restart the networking services.

# /etc/init.d/network restart

Done!

Change webmin password

I`ve got this error when login webmin

The user has been blocked because of too many authentication failures

I googled around and found that i need to change the password.First i`ve to search where is changepass.pl is located.

#locate changepass.pl

#/usr/local/webmin/changepass.pl

Then run this command to change the webmin password

#/usr/local/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin root newpassword
